Personal interests- Hiking, traveling, spending time with family, writing, and politics.
Makenna is a proud Colorado native who graduated from the University of Colorado, Boulder in December 2019 with a B.A. in Journalism and emphasis in Political Science.
Makenna’s passion for politics began in high school when she interned for Colorado State Representative Bob Rankin. The internship prompted the opportunity to work as his legislative aide in the Colorado House of Representatives during her first year of college. The following summer, she interned in U.S. Congressman Scott Tipton’s campaign office assisting with donor outreach. Makenna then spent a semester off campus in Washington D.C. interning at The Hill, where she covered various committee meetings, events, and the 2018 midterm election as a staff writer.
Makenna’s final summer and semester at CU were spent between Dublin, Ireland and London, England. She participated in a literary society and writing workshop at Trinity College Dublin and studied abroad in London. While studying abroad, Makenna traveled extensively and was employed as a blogger for her study abroad program. She promptly joined Pac/West after returning home.
If she’s not working or exploring a new city, Makenna can be found sitting in a coffee shop behind the politics section of a newspaper.
