CASE STUDY: Cherriots Rideshare / FA$T LANE Initiative
Over the past three decades, Cherriots Rideshare has worked to reduce Vehicle Miles Traveled (VMTs) in Marion, Polk and Yamhill counties in Oregon with measured success. In early 2010, Salem Area Mass Transit District/Cherriots Rideshare hired Pac/West to develop and launch a new social marketing initiative aimed at expanding reach and spurring individuals to reduce their reliance on driving alone through use of local transportation options. This effort sought to prompt both new and expanded use of transportation options among area residents, with commuters and employers as the target audiences.

CASE STUDY: WVP Health Authority
Since 2010, Pac/West has been working with WVP Health Authority (formerly Mid-Valley Independent Physicians Association) to raise the organization’s profile and position independent physicians as a valuable part of the community. We began by conducting a phone survey about health care perceptions, and meeting with providers to obtain insight on enhancing the quality of member services communications. The survey helped guide the development of a strategic communications plan, which we continue to implement today.

CASE STUDY: ATRIO & Physicians Choice Medicare Advantage Plans
Each fall, from October to December, Medicare Advantage Plans around the country have an opportunity to sign up new members during the Annual Enrollment Period (AEP). The Pac/West team has been privileged to work with ATRIO Health Plans (2008 and 2009) and Physicians Choice Plans (2009 and 2010) on this front.

CASE STUDY: Permits Protect
In 2009, the Oregon State Department of Consumer and Business Services, Building Codes Division (BCD) hired Pac/West to reinvigorate its Permits Protect program—a consumer education campaign to raise awareness of the benefits of adhering to building codes and increase the number of consumers who use building permits.

An innovative campaign that’s cost-effectively reaching Oregonians
Traffic congestion takes a heavy toll on residents, our economy and the environment. Oregon’s population is rapidly growing, and traffic will only get worse unless action is taken. Compounding the problem is the fact that there are insufficient funds to build new roads on a sizable scale. An integral part of the solution is to better manage the demand put on our existing transportation system and to maximize its capacity.

CASE STUDY: Oregon Department of Human Services (DHS)— Tobacco Prevention and Education Program
Pac/West developed and managed the State of Oregon’s acclaimed Tobacco Prevention and Education Program (TPEP) in partnership with the Department of Human Services from 1998 to 2007. Over the nearly 10-year time period, we were responsible for managing an ongoing statewide social marketing campaign designed to change behavior and social norms around tobacco use and acceptance. As a key benchmark of success, tobacco use in the state dramatically declined over the course of the campaign. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has distinguished Oregon’s Tobacco Prevention and Education Program as a national model.

Pac/West has experience implementing and managing social media campaigns of all sizes. Members of the Pac/West team constantly monitors social media and have their fingers on the up-and-coming new social media trends. CASE STUDY: DCIPA: The Physicians of Douglas County
Pac/West and DCIPA partnered to position DCIPA as the stewards of health and health care across Oregon. Based on 19 stakeholder interviews and a communitywide survey of 400 primary health care decision makers, Pac/West created a comprehensive strategic communications plan and detailed work plan. We integrated DCIPA’s existing activities, advocacy efforts and new business ventures into a strategy that positioned DCIPA to be more proactive, strategic and visible.
