Q: What's your best tip for finding common ground?
A: We accomplish more by identifying what we want and what we are willing to give up.
Q: Describe a project you are particularly proud of completing.
A: Creating a coalition to support the “Corridor Conservation Campaign” project in Sublette County, Wyoming. It focuses on building partnerships with state and federal agencies and private landowners to provide cost-free wildlife-friendly fencing along key migration corridors.
Q: Where do you go when you need an information fix?
A: The internet and state and federal Web sites.
Q: What attracted you to a career in politics and policy making?
A: I started in politics as an intern at the Colorado State Capital in college and fell in love with the process of public policy.
Q: What autographs have you collected?
A: U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas. He administered my oath to the Nebraska Bar Association in his office at the Supreme Court in Washington D.C. and Nicolas Cage – right after he filmed Valley Girl!
Q: What kinds of movies do you like and why?
A: I watch epic movies and drama, but I especially like independent films because they bring the new actors and ideas to the screen. I worked on the film board in college and brought independent movies to the school theater.
Q: If you could only watch one TV show this fall, what would it be?
A: The Sopranos – if there was a seventh season.
Q: At which meal do you generally eat the most?
A: Dinner, because it is when I can enjoy friends and colleagues without interruption.
Q: Share one food item that best describes the last year of your life.
A: The salad bar because everyday over the past year has been a choice of what I love and don’t, what is healthy, and what is not.
Q: What one item in the kitchen best describes you and your personality?
A: My Henkels chopping knife because it is sharp, universally useful, and the only one like it.
Q: What’s your favorite concert you’ve ever attended?
A: U2 Zooropa Tour Denver, Colorado 1993. My brother was a fan club member and I got to see Bono from the front row.
Q: What do you like to do when you are not at work?
A: Critique movies.
Q: If you knew could you try anything and not fail (and money was no object), what would you attempt to do?
A: Be a movie star.
Q: If you could eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?
A: Mexican food because it is hot, saucy, comforting, and always different.
Q: What is the most creative nickname you have ever been given? How did you get it?
A: "Chop Chop," because while I worked at the Department of the Interior I was known for insisting on completing my work immediately.
Q: What is the furthest away/most impressive place you have traveled to?
A: Cinque Terre in Italy. Beautiful beaches, villages, people, wine, and food.
