Founded in 1967, the Environmental Defense Fund (EDF) links science, economics and law to create innovative, equitable and cost-effective solutions to society’s most urgent environmental problems. From 2008 through 2010 EDF employed Pac/West to help the organization win lasting political, economic and social support through nonpartisan outreach efforts.

In addition to outreach and government affairs activities, the Pac/West team continues to provides media affairs support on a number of issues, but particularly on a catch shares program for the Pacific Groundfish fishery. For this project, Pac/West’s involvement has included engagement with local opinion leaders and elected officials to protect fishing jobs in the West Coast fishing industry while sustaining ocean resources and creating a proper balance between the economy and the environment.
